Kitchen & Fireplace Remodel
We love working on projects that are designed to bring families together, and this is one of our favorites!
The old kitchen served the family for nearly 30 years, but with their growing family, they currently have over 30 people attending monthly family events. The existing layout of the kitchen could no longer sit everyone comfortably together.
Long due for an update, the kitchen was a relic of the 90s, with outdated wood, melamine cabinetry, and black granite bullnose-edged countertops. Our full-scale custom design plan called for removing walls, a large island with seating, a new built-in wood hood, and two large chandeliers to balance the new open space. We also focused on a layout that flowed well into the adjacent family room with featured fireplace.
Before proceeding with the exciting scope of work and fulfilling the design plan, we brought in a structural engineer. This ensured we could safely remove walls and pillars and confirmed the roof would remain secure and structurally supported. The home’s structure was supported with scissor trusses, giving us the green light to proceed with confidence!
After removing walls and columns, we reworked the unusual ceiling transitions and moved the plumbing and gas lines. A new lighting layout was installed and prepped for the large-scale fixtures. This home’s 2-½” oak floors were refreshed with sanding, sealing, and finishing. The refinished floors revealed the oak's natural grain beautifully instead of using heavy stains.
Two-toned Medallion cabinetry was expertly installed and topped with stunning Cambria Pendel Hill Countertops backed with porcelain tile. The desired vibe is achieved: an open, invitingly warm, and traditional space that doesn’t conform to a specific genre but, most importantly, is this family’s perfect gathering spot.
